How Do You Help Veterans?
Employment is our focus. We serve as a "clearinghouse" of information, access and resources for veterans and their families. We host and sponsor employment-driven events and activities geared toward helping veterans as they transition from military service to civilian life.
We also seek to provide supportive services when possible, such as transportation expenses (i.e., gas cards, bus passes), clothing/uniforms (e.g., work boots, interview clothing).
We also have large events - Operation Holiday, where we provide food and gifts for veterans and their families, and our Employment and Resource Expo, where we bring job seekers, employers and social service providers together.

When Do You Meet?
We meet monthly at the VA/Sepulveda (16111 Plummer St., North Hills, CA 91343), from 2PM to 3PM.

What Are Your Challenges?
Identifying employers who are ready, willing, and able to hire veterans. We always need more employers to join us.
As an all-volunteer organization, we always seek like-minded partners to further our mission. That being said, the more diverse our group is (professionally speaking), the more options and advantages we have at our disposal. The "wraparound" model consisting of an array of services seems to fit best.
Cutbacks and service reductions at the state and federal level have an impact upon the members who work with us, and thus our clientele.
Keeping in contact with our veterans has been a challenge; consequently, we have adopted policy and procedures to address this matter. This allows us to be more responsive to the needs of veterans in transition, and to measure impact.

Why Hire Veterans?
The reasons are endless - but here are just a few:
Culturally Competent: Veterans have worked in many diverse situations with people from different walks of life.
Dedicated: A veteran will show up on time, do the job well, and stay until the task is completed.
Fearless: Whether it is a new task in the workplace, or negotiating with a difficult customer, when faced with adversity in the workplace, veterans accept challenges readily.
Innovative: Creating solutions that are dynamic and effective (and using what is on hand) is what happens in the military, every day. Could you use this sort of talent in your organization?
Leadership Trained: While in the military, these individuals have been responsible for millions of dollars of equipment, and and many cases, have led teams through some of the most challenging events known to mankind. Can they manage your shop? Certainly!
Loyalty: You can always depend upon a veteran to be dedicated, committed, and supportive to your cause.
Security Cleared: After being thoroughly vetted by the Government, these people are trustworthy, sincere and dependable.
Selflessness: Veterans always put the well-being of others ahead of themselves, on the battlefield, in their families and in the boardroom.
Technologically Savvy: Veterans are trained on some of the world's most sophisticated equipment and software. They bring that knowledge, talent and ability to your organization.

Where Are You Based?
While we are based in the San Fernando Valley, we are part of a large collaborative of partners throughout Los Angeles County.
Our motto is, "if we don't do it, we locate someone who does!"

What Can I Do?
If you are an employer, consider a veteran for your next hire. If you are a supporter, join us in our cause. If you wish to donate, we accept monetary donations or in-kind gifts (goods or services) that we can pass on to our clients.
Together we help those who unselfishly served our country, and make a difference in the lives of veterans transitioning from military service to civilian life.
